A LITTLE ABOUT OUR
ingredients
PLEASE NOTE:
A GMO is a genetically modified organism (also called “genetically engineered”): a plant, animal, or microorganism that is created by means that overcome natural boundaries. Genetic engineering involves crossing species that could not breed in nature. Enough said; we do not use them!!!
We typically blend flours for the best textures and flavors, using a wide variety of flours, from almond to rice to sorghum, and quinoa to garbanzo bean (and many in between). Obviously, we love to use the most nutritional flour, but some recipes are good with a plain ol’ rice flour blend.
Give me high fives for ALL NATURAL food coloring!!! All our sprinkles and coloring are made from colorants derived only from edible plants – we will never ever sell anything with artificial food coloring.
Yay, all the sprinkles are soy free (except for the snowflake sprinkles at Christmas time!). The only other items that contain soy would be the vegan marshmallows we use in a krispie bar or the cookies and cream filling in our cakes. If you have an allergy to soy (or any other ingredient), contact us to see if we can eliminate something for you!
Another thing we love is ORGANIC. Organic ingredients are the highest in quality and we use as many as we can. We take price and season into consideration when deciding on organic ingredients.
We only use CAGE FREE EGGS!
Our favorite sweeteners are raw honey, local maple syrup, organic coconut sugar, organic agave and raw sugar. We use organic evaporated cane juice for our sugar based recipes – it is not as processed as refined sugar is, therefore more nutrients are retained. (yes friends, there is powdered sugar in the frosting, there’s just no way of getting around it!)
We happily use organic coconut oil – it’s one of our favorite things around here! When you’re dairy free, coconut oil can be your best friend. Also, you’ll find grapeseed oil in our cupcakes – no gross vegetable or canola oil!
Because of the amazing health benefits, we do use nuts in our facility!! (plus, our grain free line is made with mainly almond flour) We take necessary precautions to prevent any cross contamination because we understand the severity of these allergies. Please let us know when you order if you have a nut allergy. We can eliminate nuts, unless of course, the treat is made with almond flour. Some of our suppliers are not 100% nut free.
